Frequently Asked Questions
Question: If my flange nuts on hub piloted wheels are hard to get off with an impact, can I use heat to loosen them?

Answer: Do not use heat to remove flange nuts. If heat is used to remove a nut, the stud, nut, and outer wheel must be replaced. Use a penetrating oil to loosen nuts.

Question: When should I change wheel oil in my hubs?

Answer: The frequency of lubricant changes depends upon individual operating conditions, speed, and loads. It is recommended that the hub bearing lubricant be changed every 25,000 miles of operation but not less than twice a year to prevent excessive wear on bearing and hub.

Question: Is quick-align on air-ride better than a standard air-ride without?

Answer: Quick-align makes it possible to align axles in minutes.
Normally only one side needs adjusted and no welding is required.
Question: Do I need to use conspicuity tape (reflective tape) on all my trailers and why?

Answer: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration requires trailers built after December 1, 1993, which are over 80 inches wide with a GVWR of more than 10,000 lbs. to be equipped on the sides and rear. A fleet study by NHTSA proved that truck trailers with reflective tape were involved in 15 percent fewer collisions.
Question: How many tie-downs do I need to secure articles on my flatbed?

Answer: DOT requirements and CVSR guidelines state the aggregate static load limit (WLL) of the tie-down assemblies used to secure an article against movement in any direction must be 1/2 times the weight of the article. Additional tie-down assemblies may be required to meet other industry, local, state, and federal regulations.
